Quoting Todd Graham: "The difficult thing about this conference, no one's ever gone undefeated and gone to the conference championship, much less won it, since we've been a part of this league and kind of beat each other up. You look at the BCS schools we've beat as a league and it's been impressive. We had an opportunity, we were 8-0 in '08 and got beat by Arkansas. We need to have one of our schools to make a run like that. I think that will really help us tremendously. That's the next step we need to take as a league. That's easier said than done."

Quoting Arizona AD Greg Byrne: "You always have to look at what your next steps are to get better. The north End Zone project is a critical component for our football program, really for our entire athletic department, because of the revenue that football brings for us and making sure we're giving our kids a great experience while they're here."

Quoting Joe Paterno (on conference re-alignment): "The thing that you have to do is when you get married, you'd better marry somebody you love. That means somebody who appreciates what you want to do."

"So we can really mesh. That it's going to be a happy marriage, and we're all on the same page and nobody dominates it. It's not a question of just bringing somebody in that you're just going to kick around. It's a question of bringing someone in who can handle the academics, the research, AAU schools, people with a commitment to the women's sports, a commitment to all sports programs, a commitment to the ideals of what intercollegiate athletics should be all about."

(on his team) "We're not a very good football team right now. The quarterbacks are very average, but they're very young. Hopefully over a period of time they get better. We're just not doing some things very well. The kicking game is terrible. We've got six more practices and we're going to try to concentrate on getting a little bit better."

Quoting Pat Fitzgerald: "I'm more of a traditionalist. We need to be sure we know where the landscape is going to go in college football. But I am not, for one, saying we have to keep up with the Joneses. The Big Ten product is as competitive as it's ever been. At this point, if we're going to add a team or teams, it needs to be the significance of when we added Penn State."
