Quoting Steve Spurrier: "If they play well, I'd say I'm pretty easy to play for. If you don't play very well and there's another player that's close in ability, I believe in giving the next guy a chance. (Garcia) went the distance (last season) because we didn't have anybody else. There were some times he would have been better off sitting over there."
"Hopefully Stephen Garcia can come around and make a stronger commitment to play. If he's going to be your quarterback, then everybody's got to believe in him. We're hoping Stephen will show just a little bit stronger commitment level and get himself better prepared to play each week and play better."
"Re-commit? De-commit?" I don't know if he re-committed or de-committed. It's wait and see."
"Spring practice was, I wouldn't say, a lot different than most of his spring practices. We'll just have to wait and see. It may be a point that he's playing the best he can. We may be expecting too much out of him. I think about that, but if that's the case, then we have to get the next guy ready to play because the way he's performed thus far, we're going to be limited."
"He's got to make better decisions, take care of the ball, avoid sacks - all that kind of stuff. Throw a little bit better and things of that nature. But we believe he can and he's going to get the opportunity to."
(on his backup Shaw) "He'll be there all summer doing what we ask him to do. You don't have to worry about his commitment level. It's strong. He's a good passer. He can run a bit. I think they clocked him at about a 4.55 in the 40. He's a fast kid from Flowery Branch, Ga. He's definitely the back-up right now, ready to compete for the starting assignment in the pre-season."
Quoting Derek Dooley: "At the end of the day, a good headline in February or March isn't going to win you any football games. It's just not my style."
"I did come in and it was quite different from the predecessor in that I wasn't trying to make headlines. Our program needed somebody to get their arms around it and our team needed someone to get their arms around them and start forging a little plan of where we're going. At the end of the day, a good headline in February or March isn't going to win you any football games."
"I was leading the charge against the BCS last year. I had it all wrong last year. It's kind of like that teacher who's interviewing for fifth grade history and they ask, ‘Do you believe the world is round or do you believe the world is flat?' He said, ‘I can teach it either way.' So I'm good."
