Quoting Houston Nutt: (on taking Masoli) "The rules are going to be different for him. I told him I have zero tolerance. I have a hairtrigger. I know he knows I will pull the trigger so fast."

(Nutt told Masoli) "I got eyes on me for taking a thug - that's what people are saying. You've got to be able to handle it and be a positive kid."

Quoting Jim Tressel: "There are some guys that will be here in camp that haven't got any straight (titles), and nobody in our camp has played in six straight seasons. So hopefully, we'll focus on what we have to do to get better. And if we earn that right to be the champions, then we can talk afterward about how many straight it was, but we haven't done anything in 2010."

Quoting Dabo Swinney: "I've tried to not let it (early success) change me. I hope that I'm the same person I was as an assistant coach. I hope I've kept my feet on the ground; it's something I'm conscious of. I don't ever want to create a feeling or perception that it's about me. I try to stay involved in the community and do things the way I always have."

"Now we have real data to learn from, our successes, our failures. It's a great situation to have everyone back. We are all on the same page and we can continue to learn ... developing our brand."

Quoting South Carolina running backs coach Jay Graham: "We have mixed some of the runs Shawn Elliott brought with him with some of the stuff we were already doing. At this point, it's all about meshing some things together. I'm very excited about the run game and where the offensive line is. Only time will tell if it's going to be better but that is a key to our success."

"Guys understand how many runs we have each game. I've been upfront with each of them from the beginning. They have to compete and be the guy that wants to do everything we ask in practice and they will be the guy that gets the bulk of the carries. We will know that first or second week of practice which of the guys has done the things over the summer to be ready for the season."

Quoting Steve Spurrier: "Shawn is the run-game coordinator and O-line coach. He and Jay Graham look at all the running plays each week, and then myself along with [Steve Spurrier] Jr. and G.A. [Mangus] try and put it all together."

Quoting UTEP head coach Mike Price: "It's fun to be a football coach when you win; it's not that fun when you lose. It just wears on you."

"Andre Patterson is really, really, really good. He was my first choice as defensive coordinator when I was at Alabama. He came in to interview and didn't take it -- smart move there with what went on. I've wanted him in this position for a long time."

"I want to retire on a winning note."

"I'm trying like (heck) to get that record better. I guess I'll stay forever if I don't get that winning record."

Quoting Buffalo head coach Jeff Quinn: "After 27 years of being an assistant and 21 years being with Brian Kelly, I have seen from a day-to-day basis what it looks and feels like to run a championship program and that is what I bring to Buffalo."

"I am constantly reminded because there is a lot more on my plate each day. At the same time, I have a great staff and a coach needs great people around him and I have that. Six of the nine people on my staff came from Cincinnati and we have been able to hit the ground running and there has been a smooth transition because of our familiarity with each other."

"There are only 120 head coaches in the country and this is a great opportunity for me. The opportunity to go to Notre Dame was there but I said when you die and go to heaven, you first coach in the Sugar Bowl and then you go to Buffalo."

"Brian always surrounded himself with great people. If you look at the staffs we had together at Grand Valley and Central Michigan and Cincinnati, that is where it starts. It starts with the people. Brian always asked for excellence from his coaches on and off the field and I have taken that to wanting my coaches to be great teachers, great x's-and-o's coaches, great motivators, and great recruiters. Those are the things that, if you don't get that right, it doesn't work."

"We want to be back (at Ford Field) on December 3 for the MAC Championship game. We work on that every single day and it's a commitment each player makes 24/7."

Quoting Butch Jones: (on CMU win over Michigan State) "Michigan State calls time out and our kids are nervous. I can see the look on their faces. I pull out my dad's band (hospital ID band) . I say, 'Guys, you know what this is? This is my dad's.' I said, 'Everyone hold it. We're going to be fine. My dad's going to take care of it.'

"I look over at the field goal kicker and he's just sweating. I say, 'Hey, Andrew, open your hand. This is my dad's. All you've got to worry about is kicking it. Just get it up. My dad will take care of the rest.' He looks at me and says, 'OK, coach, I can do that.' "

Quoting Gene Chizik: "All things being told, consistency is going to be the name of the game with us in terms of us being better and really laying the second brick in the foundation of what we're trying to do."
