Quoting Joe Paterno: "I'm feeling really good. As long as I enjoy it, I'll continue to coach. Right now, I have no plans whatsoever, as far as whether I'm going to go another year, two years, five years or what have you."

"As Mark Twainsaid, 'The rumor of my death has been overexaggerated. The problem I had was not having control of some things, so I had to be careful and not get into a position where I would embarrass myself. But I think I'm ready to go."

Quoting Ron Zook: "I don't think there's any question I have something to prove. I think that's why you're in this profession. It's about winning."

Quoting Mark Richt: "The quarterback room has got to be the youngest room maybe in the history of college football."

"He (Bobo) is going to really earn his pay. But the good news is Aaron is really doing a very good job, and he knows the deal extremely well. Just being in the meeting today, I thought all the young QBs were pretty sharp and learning really quick."

Quoting Pat Fitzgerald: ''If it gets old talking about Jan. 1 bowl games, then I want to be a part of that. 'Win or lose, I think you move on. When you win, I think it becomes a distraction because you think you've arrived - and when you lose, you can dwell on the negative. It was a great infomercial for us - 4-- hours of our guys competing their tails off."

Quoting Indiana head coach Bill Lynch: "We had so many games last year where we were competing and had the lead in the fourth quarter in the Big Ten and didn't finish the job. So that certainly has been our theme."

"We've got a lot of guys that are maybe no-name guys to our fans and to the media, but ones that we've seen practice. We feel like the personnel is in place."

Quoting Tim Brewster: "This spring made our team better. The competition that we've had at quarterback, in the offensive line, great competition at tailback -- we've got a pretty good idea about the direction we'll go. It sorted itself out a little bit this spring."

"We're bigger. We're stronger. We're faster. We're more athletic than we've been."

Quoting Tommy Tuberville: "It'll be hard to make a decision. One could step up, take the bull by the horns and go with it. I would expect it to be real close, though.''

"I'm a guy that will give people a second chance if they show me they deserve it. I had a lot of long talks with him. He's got an opportunity, but he knows he's got to make the most of it. He's changed in terms of understanding what's going to be asked of him.''

Quoting Brett Bielema: One of my new year resolutions was to be more friendly with the media. I actually played golf with a media member on Sunday for 18 holes. Never thought I'd do that, and actually enjoyed it.

We have a lot of good players coming back.

(on first winter meeting) As the meeting winds down, I'll keep the seniors, all 16 guys had started a game. Everyone of those guys has started a game. It's exciting because I've offered all of those guys a scholarship.

The only way you can guarantee tomorrow's success is to put your work in today.

Keep in mind, we're trying to build better relationships here.

I love the expansion with Nebraska because it will open up more channels to the west. It brings so much value to our conference.

As a head coach, it's very comforting knowing that answer (at quarterback) is already there.

You only know what you know. Coach Zook and myself liked the idea of a championship game (5 years ago). I'm for it.

Quoting Pat Fitzgerald: We have 17 wins over the last few years. That foundation will allow us to take the next step.

We would like to go to a bowl game for 3 straight years. It's never been done at Northwestern.

We believe we have great players. We have a lot of guys up front. We can play 8 or 9 up front.

Our linebacking core might be the deepest unit on our team. We have six guys that have started in the secondary.

2009 may go down as our best year academically. Our team GPA is just below a 3.0

(our players) 1158 hours socially giving back to the Evanston community.

Whatever is better for the conference is better for Northwestern. Change is in the air. I trust in the leadership (on this conference).

(on reason why beating Iowa 4 of 5 years) An oblong football that bounces a lot of difference ways. I can't put my finger on it. We've just been fortunate to be on the winning edge.

Coming out of the Outback Bowl, I started getting calls from quarterbacks nationally... "So you throw the ball 79 times a game...cool."

I liked to see our offensive line stay healthy and come together a little bit better than a year ago. We need to be better there.

It was a great infomercial for us. 4 and ½ hours of competing.

We need to keep winning. Our fan base is more impressed by the quality of our young men.

Quoting Ron Zook: I really do (feel more relaxed). I think a lot of it has to do with the coaches.

Our players feel like they have something to prove.

On paper, we're every bit if not better than that year (Rose Bowl season).

(on what Zook told the team in last spring meeting) It was going to be important for you guys to make yourselves better (during the summer).

I don't know how many times I've had to turn the projector off this summer. That's good. That means they are around.

I don't think there's any question that I have something to prove. It's about winning. I don't know if there's anything more we could have done now.

Quoting Rich Rodriguez: There's probably no one more excited in the country to start coaching football, than I am.

There's a lot of hungry football players in Ann Arbor.

We will be a little deeper (on defense).

We should be better up front, offensively. We have more experience.

For us the key is to execute better, play better defensively, and improve on special teams.

(on QB position) It's a wide open competition. I think that competition is going to be healthy. I hope it's answered by the first game, but it may take a couple of games into the season to separate, if they do.

I'm excited about Greg (Robinson) taking over the linebackers. He's comfortable there. We're going to have more competition there. There's going to be 5 of 6 guys that we can count on.

I don't know much about what's going on this summer (with which players are improving).

Nobody likes what's going on in our program with what's going on, especially with the wins and losses.

Our fans have been terrific. They have been overwhelmingly positive. Our fans have been absolutely phenomenal. I hope we can reward them with more wins and better football. I think that's coming.

I don't have a preference on how they separate the divisions.

The pressure is what you put on yourself. I feel pressure just to get better everyday at practice. We got into every season like we need to win that game (Ohio State). We just know we have to get better. We'll win those games when we deserve to win those games.

I regretted a lot of things, but not that one (going for extra point instead of the win against Michigan State).

Quoting Jim Tressel: I feel good about the maturity and leadership.

The back half of our team, we need to find out more about. We lost a good senior class. Not all were starters, but all were contributors.

We report to camp on the 5th.

We normally have a target. Once you get started, you don't really know. You're just trying to get better. We'll always get someone's best shot. It's just part of the deal.

(on Terrell Pryor) I thought it really started to crystallize with him during bowl practice. He did the same thing in the spring. He focused on becoming the best he can be. He's always thinking about football. I think he's anxious to get this season underway.

I think the world remembers what we've (Big Ten teams) done most recently.
