2012 Strength & Conditioning Coach of the Year The FootballScoop Coaches of the Year awards presented by ProGrass are the only set of awards that recognize the most outstanding position coaches in college football. Finalists were selected based off of nominations by coaches, athletic directors, and athletic department personnel. The winner will be chosen by the previous winners of the award and will be announced on Friday December 14th. The 2012 FootballScoop Coaches of the Year will be recognized and will receive their awards at a function at the American Football Coaches Association's annual convention in January. Previous winners of the Strength & Conditioning Coach of the Year award are Shannon Turley (Stanford, 2011), Kevin Yoxall (Auburn, 2010), Joey Batson (Clemson, 2009) and Don Sommer (TCU, 2008).
Craig Fitzgerald - Penn State
Craig Fitzgerald is just completing his first season at Penn State as director of strength & conditioning after having served in the same capacity at South Carolina for the past three seasons. A coach on the staff tells us that he's never seen players respond so well to a strength program. Fitzgerald, who was nominated by a number of other coaches in the profession, is considered one of the young leaders of the profession.
Kaz Kazadi - Baylor
Year in, year out we hear "Our players truly look forward to getting into the weight room with Kaz. The guy is the best I've ever been around. Kaz Kazadi is a finalist for the second consecutive year for a reason. His coaches and players both love his process and the results they see. Plain and simple, Kaz Kazadi understands how to motivate and properly train his players.
Bryan Miller - Oregon State
Bryan Miller is an under the radar guy who just goes in everyday and makes his team better. Miller, who is in his fifth year as head strength coach for Oregon State football (and a bunch of other sports at Oregon State) has complete control of "player development" in Corvallis and you see the results on the field. One coach who nominated him said, "Bryan is the best coach in the state of Oregon and that alone is saying something."
