Mike Kerin - 2010 Director of Football Operations of the Year

FootballScoop is proud to announce that Mike Kerin (West Virginia) is the 2010 FootballScoop Director of Football Operations of the Year presented by SpeedTracs.

After a brief stint at the University of Colorado where he also played tight end, Mike Kerin began working with the West Virginia football program in 1980 and has never left. Over the past 30 years, Mike has become an integral part of Mountaineer football serving in various capacities and was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director in 2008.

In nominating Kerin, a DFO who has been doing this for over 25 years wrote, "Mike has always done it the right way. He's extremely hard working, diligent and respectful. He's an indispensable part of West Virginia football."

A fellow Big East DFO shared with FootballScoop, "Mike has seen and done it all at West Virginia and he has been willing to share so much of his knowledge with so many guys in the profession. Mike truly knows his program inside and out; but what sets him apart from a lot of guys is his ability to work with people. In this business you deal with a lot of different attitudes and backgrounds and Mike has always been able to work with everyone on the staff there."

West Virginia head coach Bill Stewart recently shared with FootballScoop, "This is a well-deserved honor for Mike. He has done a lot for the Mountaineer football program and the University. He goes about his business with the utmost integrity and passion and works hard to make sure the players, coaches and staff are taken care of in a first-class manner. In my opinion, there isn't a better operations man in college football."

The FootballScoop Coaches of the Year awards presented by SpeedTracs are the only set of awards that recognize the most outstanding position coaches in college football. The finalists (Kerin, Gerry Capone - Virginia and Mike Sinquefield - TCU) were selected based off of nominations by coaches, athletic directors, and athletic department personnel. A panel of coaches including previous recipients determined the 2010 winners.

The 2009 Director of Football Operations was Tom Deahn (Temple University).
