Deion is still making the rounds as Jackson State's head coach, and that continued with a Saturday appearance on Fox's Big Noon Kickoff.
The interview is mostly morning TV happy talk -- Oh wouldn't it be funny if Urban Meyer was Deion's OC? -- but it does offer a little bit of hard news.
Sanders forcefully denied a local report that linked the likes of Warren Sapp and Terrell Owens to his staff, and continued that on Saturday. (Sapp and Owens also both denied they would join the staff.)
"Lies. Those are lies," he said when asked by Matt Leinart about the report. "I can't tell you how many they got right -- I think it was one. They had one guy right out of the whole staff, and I think the guy that leaked it is terminated. His services are no longer rendered."
What's interesting here is that Deion continues throwing out a specific number in regards to his staff's NFL experience -- 84 years. It's never 80, 85, "close to 85" or anything like that, always 84 specifically, which indicates Deion has his guys lined up.
On that front, sources tell FootballScoop that Alan Ricard is expected to be a member of the staff, possibly as running backs coach.
Ricard spent parts of nine seasons with the Cowboys, Ravens (where he was teammates with Deion in 2004-05), Bills, Browns and Lions and previously coached running backs at Nicholls State and ULM.
As always, stay tuned to The Scoop for the latest.
