Keeping with their theme of throwing a microphone on their newest coaching additions, Miami mic'd up new defensive line coach Randy Melvin for a workout session recently.
Melvin, who most recently worked at FIU in the same capacity, has previous experience in the NFL (with the Bucs and Browns), and is familiar with Al Golden after working under him for a season at Temple.
This is a great look at some of the drills and coaching points that Melvin is using down at Miami, as well as the energy he brings to practice. You'll hear Melvin emphasize violent hands multiple times throughout the clip. During one shed portion of a drill, Melvin notes hearing clothes tear.
"There ya go, hearing clothes tear a little bit!" and then added, "Hey! We want a violent shed. Throw them. It's alright, they'll give 'em more clothes."
