Sources confirm Washington set to lose coordinator to Sean Lewis and San Diego State (sean lewis)

Sean Lewis continues to make some strong moves to fill out his staff at San Diego State.

His latest hire, to fill a key coordinator role, will come from a College Football Playoff participant.

FootballScoop can confirm that Washington assistant Eric Schmidt is set to join the Aztecs staff as defensive coordinator. 247 has reported the same.

Sources share that Schmidt will join the Aztecs after the College Football Playoff.

Schmidt served as Edge coach and special teams coordinator and has spent the past twos seasons with the Huskies.

A former high school head coach at Crookston HS (MN), Schmidt has coached linebackers and served as defensive coordinator at North Dakota (FCS), and worked with defensive line and the inside and outside linebackers at Southern Illinois (FCS) in addition to special teams coordinator duties.

Before joining the Washington staff, he was with Kalen DeBoer for two seasons at Fresno State as defensive line coach / special teams coordinator.

Washington is set to face Texas in the Sugar Bowl on January 1st.
