Report: Nick Saban adding another NFL coach to staff (Alabama)

Nick Saban has been reloading his staff in Tuscaloosa with some serious NFL talent.

Former Texans head coach Bill O'Brien is on board as the team's new offensive coordinator, while former Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone will work with the team's offensive line.

According to a report from Matt Zenitz, Saban is adding another former NFL coach to his support staff.

Will Lawing, who coached the tight ends for the Texans the past few seasons, is reportedly joining the program as an analyst.

Lawing has spent the past several years alongside Bill O'Brien, most recently in Houston. The two also previously worked together at Penn State.

Early on in his coaching career, after a playing career at North Carolina, he followed the footstepf of his dad, Brad Lawing, into coaching. Will's first stop was in Juniata (D-III - PA) as tight ends coach. A year later, in 2010, he was promoted to passing game coordinator and then to offensive coordinator in 2011.

In 2013, he caught on with O'Brien as a graduate assistant at Penn State, and followed him to Houston as a defensive quality control coach. He spent a few seasons in that role before being elevated to tight ends coach in 2019.

Now he appears to be following Bill O'Brien again, this time to Tuscaloosa as part of Saban's (once again rebuilt) staff aimed at collecting the best and brightest minds in football to bring home another national title.
