Sources: New Mexico State OC Tim Beck emerges as offensive coordinator target at Vanderbilt (New Mexico Bowl)

After firing offensive coordinator Joey Lynch late last month at the conclusion of Vanderbilt's third-consecutive losing season under Clark Lea, the Commodores now are working to find the program's next play-caller.

Veteran coach Tim Beck, who rose to success as an assistant on both sides of the ball at NCAA Division II program Pittsburg State (Kansas), is the top candidate for the role, multiple sources have told FootballScoop.

Presently the offensive coordinator for Jerry Kill's remarkable rebuild at New Mexico State, Beck has helped the Aggies win a combined 17 games in the past two seasons.

New Mexico State's offense climbed from just more than 25 points per game in 2022 to nearly 29 ppg this season -- the latter a touchdown-per-game increase from the Aggies' offensive production in 2021.

Beck won 82 games as Pittsburg State's head coach and helped the Gorillas advance into postseason play four times with one NCAA Division II national championship.

He spent the 2021 season with Kill as senior analysts in Gary Patterson's last season atop the TCU Horned Frogs program.
