Clark Lea has announced tonight the decision to part ways with offensive coordinator Joey Lynch.
Lynch just completed his second season in that role.
He initially joined Lea's staff in 2021 working with the quarterbacks and holding then title of passing game coordinator.
This past season, the Commodores ranked last in the SEC in total offense with about 319 total yards. The Commodores also ranked 110th in scoring offense with 22.8 points per game.
In the same announcement of the move at offensive play caller, Lea shares that he will take over the defensive play calling duties.
Nick Howell, the former defensive coordinator at Virginia, joined the staff as defensive coordinator back in January of 2022.
Vanderbilt shares that Howell will remain on staff and will coach the secondary while Dan Jackson will transition into an off-field role and defensive quality control coach Jamaal Richardson will assist Howell in the secondary.
Vandy finished 2-10 this fall, a step back from the 5-7 record they had in 2022.
