Arkansas State is going to put waterfalls in its stadium (Arkansas State)

Water attractions have been a part of major sporting venues since the Arizona Diamondbacks and their outfield pool joined Major League Baseball in the late 1990's. The Jacksonville Jaguars brought pools to football a few years ago.

But each of those were used as gimmicks to draw attention and/or people to the stadium. Not as decorative items.

Arkansas State on Thursday unveiled renderings of two waterfalls in the north end zone of Centennial Bank Stadium. As you'll see below, each waterfall bookends each side of the north end zone, connecting premium seating beyond the end zone to the grandstand.

And the result is.... original? And a little weird?

The project also adds functionality to Centennial Bank Stadium:

First and foremost, the project will enhance the Arkansas State student-athlete experience. Project features include a new weight room and training/rehabilitation area, new team locker room, position meeting rooms, players’ lounge, academic rooms and team-theater meeting area. The Red Wolves Den, our new outdoor premium seating options, will create a unique experience for our fans; comprised of loge boxes and terrace seating with premium food and access to two cash bars.

Premium seating includes 4-person loge boxes with private restrooms, cash bars, and a reserved tailgate location.

"We’re building an experience in order to help fund this opportunity to enhance the perception of our Athletics program," Arkansas State AD Terry Mohajir said in a post on the program's fundraising website. "This project will allow us to attract the top students in the country and provide first-class services to develop our students on and off the playing surfaces. Additionally, we’ve created a unique feature to pay homage to the great state of Arkansas, the Natural State."

The landing page currently includes no information about how much the project will cost or an expected completion date.
