In a profession where -- we can be honest here, can't we -- some people take themselves a tad bit too seriously, Nick Rolovich is a breath of fresh air. The third-year Hawaii coach recognizes his conference's media days for what they are and chooses to have some fun with them.
A year ago, he paid $350 an hour to take an Elvis impersonator with him through the Mountain West media days. From USA Today:
"He's one of the most acclaimed impersonators," Rolovich said from Mountain West Conference media days, where for two hours every step he took — to radio, television and print interviews — was shadowed by a late-era vintage, slightly paunchy Elvis, both strutting and thank you very much-ing their way through media availability.
"Basically, I just said, 'Hang out.' We're friends for two hours. He brought it."
Rolovich has followed that act up by brining a Britney Spears impersonator with him to this year's event.
That's not all, though. Rolovich, who once used the 2016 MW media days to stage an elaborate Pokemon Go! game, also brought gifts for his fellow head coaches. You'll never guess whose is who.
Congratulations to Rolovich on another successful bit. Now make sure you top it for 2019.
