Days after Arkansas governor Asa Hutchinson approved a bill that would have expanded concealed-carry rights to include, among other places, college sporting events, the Arkansas state legislature approved a measure that gives its universities the option to exempt their football stadiums and other sporting venues from the bill.
Aided by the urging of SEC commissioner Greg Sankey, the exemption passed the House by a 71-20 margin. It will still need final approval in the Senate and a signature from the governor to become law.
And with that, every visiting coach, player, administrator and official breathes a sigh of relief.
