After a 6-5 season, Pitt State (D-II - KS) head coach Tim Beck will step down, sources tell FootballScoop. The Gorillas started 5-0 before dropping five games in a row and then winning the season finale by a score of 65-6.
Tim Beck has led the program the past 10 seasons, and has spent more than three decades climbing the ladder from student assistant, to graduate assistant, to full-time assistant, and then on to coordinator roles on the Gorillas coaching staff, but now the school will take things in a new direction.
In his second season leading the program back in 2011, Beck led the team to their fourth national title and a 13-1 record while also picking up a number of national coach of the year honors.
In his first five seasons, Beck led the team to the D-II playoffs twice but those trips have dried up the past four seasons, missing the postseason with wins of 6, 7, 7, and 8 games respectfully.
Beck spent a total of 16 seasons as offensive coordinator and 22 total seasons on staff before getting the call up to lead the program back in December of 2009. Interestingly enough, before taking the reigns of the offense, Beck actually served as the team's defensive coordinator for two season in the early 90's.
