FootballScoop takes a neutral stance toward every team in college football, with one exception: we want every team to win at least one game every season. We hope you'll forgive us for that unabashed strain of homerism for the winless amongst our ranks.
And on that front I have some good news: as we sit four weeks in, only eight teams have yet to taste victory this season. Only two teams have gone winless over the past three seasons (Central Florida and Kansas, both in 2014), and here we'll examine each of the remaining seven teams' prospects of getting off Goose Egg Island.
ACC
Florida State (0-2): The easiest One of These is Not Like the Others answer ever, the Seminoles are only here due to bad luck and Hurricane Irma. Due to a combination of those two things, a rusty Florida State team fell behind NC State 10-0 after one quarter before losing 27-21. Nevertheless, FSU is 0-2 for the first time since 1989 and will reach Sept. 30 without a win for the first time since 1976. Florida State isn't at risk of going winless, but it's far from a given that their first win happens immediately. FSU visits undefeated Wake Forest on Saturday, hosts Miami, visits undefeated Duke and then hosts Lamar Jackson and Louisville in the next four weeks -- all with a true freshman quarterback.

Big 12
Baylor (0-4): When was the last time the Big 12 produced an 0-4 team that wasn't Kansas? (The answer? Colorado in 2006.) Thanks to back-to-back losses to Liberty and UTSA, Baylor is probably the most publicized winless team going in FBS. After scoring 41 points and throwing for 463 yards on an Oklahoma defense that shut down Ohio State, Baylor has shown the ability to win a game this year. Perhaps as soon as this week.

Conference USA
Charlotte (0-4): In just its fifth season of existence and third as a Conference USA member, Charlotte is still going through growing pains. One of those pains: an inability to score. In three games against FBS foes the 49ers have scored just 14 points, including zero in a 28-0 loss to Georgia State on Saturday. The Niners' bet shot may be on Saturday against an FIU team averaging 15.7 points a game.

UTEP (0-4): It's been a rough start in El Paso. The Miners have already replaced offensive coordinator Brent Pease and, with the school looking for a new athletics director, everyone in the football building has to be on notice. UTEP has had trouble stopping people -- their lowest opponent output so far is 31 points -- and Conference USA is an offensive-oriented league.

Independents
Massachusetts (0-5): The Minutemen came oh so close to removing themselves from this list on Saturday. Trailing Tennessee 17-13, UMass possessed the ball five separate times with the chance to take the lead on a touchdown, at one point reaching the Tennessee 38-yard line, but never threatened beyond that. The good news? Bring that sort of effort every week and event and wins will follow.

MAC
Bowling Green (0-4): The Falcons seemed to figure things out at the end of last season, halting a 7-game losing streak by closing the year with three straight wins. That didn't continue into 2017, as Bowling Green has yet to play within 10 points of an FBS opponent and dropped a 35-27 decision to South Dakota. There is hope, though. Bowling Green ended last season's winning streak against Akron. This week's opponent: Akron.

Mountain West
Nevada (0-4): Jay Norvell is still looking for his first win as a head coach, though he did come close two weeks ago, falling 30-28 to Idaho State. Unfortunately for the Wolf Pack, the MW's top four teams all find themselves on Nevada's schedule.

Sun Belt
Georgia Southern (0-3): Put simply, Georgia Southern's fall has been shocking. A program that went 18-7 in its first two seasons of FBS membership has gone 5-10 in the Tyson Summers era, starting this season with blowout losses to Auburn and Indiana and a 22-12 setback at home to New Hampshire. The Eagles will work their way off this list soon enough, but their inclusion in the first place is as out of place as Florida State's and Baylor's.
