Over the weekend, Urban Meyer's sit down with ESPN'S Tom Rinaldi aired, this morning he issued a release via Twitter, and today he faced the media for the first time since being back in the facility.
In it, he talked firsthand about what he knew about Zach Smith, when he knew it, and why he acted the way he did.
Urban added that, at that point, athletic director Gene Smith told him to let the police investigation take place and that he'd be in the loop as developments came in and the investigation concluded that no domestic violence took place. The end of the line for Meyer regarding Smith, he shared, came when Smith didn't inform him of a protection order issued against him by Courtney. That, and as Meyer has stated before, "the pattern of behavior" leading up to that point is what led to his dismissal.
Urban also put to rest the reports regarding him deleting text messages from his phone as it became clear that an investigation was about to take place.

Meyer also issued a few apologies through the presser, including to Ohio State and Courtney Smith and her children.
At the podium, Meyer shared one of the lessons he learned throughout this whole ordeal was that he needs to ask more questions, and he added that he and Gene Smith continue to have conversations about how to proceed in similar situations as this when no charges have been filed, but allegations have been made.
