Forty-seven years is a long time by any measure, but in relation to the Florida football program, it's eternity. Heck, it's longer than eternity.
The 2014 season will mark the 47th consecutive fall that Peggy and Douglas Zant have bought Florida season tickets, dating back to 1968. In 1968, Florida had just four bowl victories to its credit. In 1968, Florida was still nearly a quarter century away from its first SEC championship. In 1968, Florida was still just a dormant program a generation away from truly competing.
Still, the Zants came, and they haven't stopped coming since.
On Friday, Gators head coach Will Muschamp delivered season tickets to two of his most devoted fans.
“We start off early in the morning getting ready for the game,’’ Peggy said. “We want to be prepared. We go over a couple of hours before the game. We sit through the entire game. Win or lose we sit there until the end. Sometimes we are the last ones on our row.”
