Report: Nike to start national 7-on-7 league

If you thought the train would somehow reverse itself and football recruiting would start to become less like basketball recruiting, this is not the article for you.

According to Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports, Nike is set to begin a national 7-on-7 league that would consume players' off-seasons. The league would anchor in five cities -- Washington, DC, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Kansas City and San Francisco -- with 25-member teams. Players would pay $1,000 to join a team and the season would consist of two tournaments. Marriott and possibly a national airline chain are slated as sponsors.

With, of course, Nike gear and branding being pushed every step of the way.
