On the heels of last year's undefeated regular season and Rose Bowl appearance, Iowa is moving forward with a number of upgrades for Kinnick Stadium.
The program has announced an $89 million renovation to the 87-year-old stadium, including tearing down and constructing a brand new north end zone with 1,600 premium seats, new concourses, restrooms and concessions areas, and a new video board. The school says it will triple its number of women's restrooms and double its census of concessions stands.
Despite adding the new seats, the project will take Kinnick's capacity slightly below 70,000, AD Gary Barta says. Current capacity is 70,585.
Construction will begin this summer and be completed in time for the 2019 season.
