William Peagler, a FootballScoop Coach of the Year award winner, is returning to Florida in an unspecified role, Matt Zentiz of CBS Sports reported on Monday.
Peagler was an original member of Billy Napier's Florida staff, serving as tight ends coach. He came to Gainesville from Michigan State, where he won FootballScoop's Running Backs Coach of the Year award following a 2021 season in which Kenneth Walker III ran for 1,636 yards and 18 touchdowns in an 11-2 season for the Spartans.
Peagler was a student assistant at Clemson when Napier was the tight ends coach and offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach for the Tigers. Napier first hired Peagler when he landed his first head coaching position at Louisiana in 2018; there, Peagler was the Ragin Cajuns' director of player personnel and quality control coordinator.
After coaching the 2022 season at Florida, Peagler left to become the assistant defensive line coach for the Arizona Cardinals, a job he held for the past two seasons.
