Sources: Reggie Barlow emerges as top target to replace Eddie George at Tennessee State (Reggie Barlow)

As an NCAA head coach, Reggie Barlow has nearly 100 wins.

He might be on the verge of getting the opportunity to reach the century mark.

Multiple sources tell FootballScoop Thursday that Barlow is the top target in the search to replace Eddie George atop the Tennessee State football program.

After Zoom interviews earlier this week, TSU officials have hosted multiple candidates on the school's Nashville campus across the past 24 hours, several sources told FootballScoop.

Following George, the former Ohio State and Tennessee Titans star who led the TSU program to unprecedented success before he accepted the Bowling Green job earlier this month, is the potential path back to collegiate coaching for Barlow, currently the head coach of the UFL's D.C. Defenders.

Barlow owns previous head coaching experience at the collegiate level from an eight-year run at the helm of his alma mater, Alabama State, as well as an six-year run as head coach at Virginia State.

He's a well-established, proven head coach in the HBCU ranks with an overall winning record in his stints atop both Alabama State and Virginia State.

TSU and well-regarded athletics director Mikki Allen are in the unenviable position of needing a new head coach after George's decision to follow Scot Loeffler atop the Bowling Green Falcons program.

Loeffler is now the quarterbacks coach for the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles.

TSU is coming off an nine-win season under George in 2024, a year in which the Tigers nearly upended perennial FCS power Montana on the road in the FCS Playoffs.

Other candidates involved in the TSU search include FBS assistants and former high-level FCS head coaches, such as Alcorn State legend Fred McNair.

Fisher, an NFL mainstay with the Titans as well as the Rams franchise, saw his son, Brandon Fisher, be a key assistant for George at Tennessee State as defensive coordinator.

Brandon Fisher is the new defensive coordinator at Bowling Green, as FootballScoop first reported earlier this week.
