Sources: Syracuse expected to add Broyles Award winner to staff (josh gattis)

Josh Gattis is expected to join Syracuse's staff in an undisclosed role, sources confirmed to FootballScoop on Wednesday. CBS Sports first reported the news.

Gattis spent the past two seasons as the offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach at Maryland, a job now filled by Pep Hamilton.

Prior to Maryland, Gattis spent one season in the same role at Miami and three at Michigan. He won the Broyles Award as the nation's top assistant in 2021, a season that saw the Wolverines beat Ohio State, win the Big Ten championship and reach the College Football Playoff for the first time.

A former receiver for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Chicago Bears, Gattis broke into coaching as a wide receivers coach, handling the position for Western Michigan, Vanderbilt, Penn State and Alabama prior to breaking into a coordinator role at Michigan in 2019.

Syracuse enjoyed a breakout season in Fran Brown's first campaign at the helm. The Orange went 10-3 behind a passing attack that led the nation by 20 yards per game, the largest such margin since 2021.
