Eric Galko has signed an extension to remain atop the East-West Shrine Bowl's player selection process, Ari Meirov tweeted Wednesday.
Galko has been the event's director of football operations and player personnel since April of 2021. He was previously the XFL's director of player personnel from 2018 through its initial run, which ended with the pandemic in 2020. Galko is also the founder and president of Optimum Scouting, which he he has run since 2007. Prior to the XFL, Galko was the director of player personnel for Your Call Football, a fan-controlled football league, and the Dream Bowl, a college all-star game pitting players from FCS and below.
The move comes after the Senior Bowl lost its executive director Jim Nagy to the general manager position at Oklahoma. Meirov noted Gelko re-signed with the East-West Shrine Bowl "amid interest from elsewhere in the industry."
