Deion Sanders and Colorado are on a three-game losing skid are have a tough three-game stretch ahead of them as they fight to become a bowl team.
With two of their three games left coming against teams currently ranked among the top 25 in the country, practice have gotten intense in Boulder to the point that fights have been breaking out.
Unconventional in nearly every meaning of the word, it will come as no surprise to hear that Coach Prime has an outside the box way of looking at in-practice scuffles.
He actually likes them.
“We’ve had a great week of practice. We had a couple of fights, which I like,” Sanders shared on the Colorado Football Coaches Show.
Liking them is one thing...but Prime - who famously noted he keeps receipts on the haters out there, goes on to share he actually keeps records.
“It’s a great thing. I always want to know who won because I keep records. I don’t break them up. Some coaches break them up. I don’t."
“Some guys fight hoping for the break up. No, we’re going to let you go."
"I love it. They’ve been getting after it. It’s almost like a rededication. It’s almost like a refocus. I love where we are. We’ve had great practices this week, offense, defense, as well as special teams.”
The extra-spirited practices come as Prime controversially moved Sean Lewis away from the offensive play caller role and elevated analyst, and NFL coaching veteran Pat Shurmur as the Buffs new offensive play caller.
The Buffs have a red-hot Arizona team in Boulder on Saturday, with trips to Washington State and Utah to end the regular season.
