Auburn is set to hire Ole Miss assistant head coach Derrick Nix as offensive coordinator.
This move has been in the works for a while. Lane Kiffin tweeted this on Friday.
Can people quit calling me and telling me @DerrickDnix is at @AuburnFootball 😂 pic.twitter.com/avCngtwV1c

Nix spent the past 16 seasons on staff at Ole Miss, 12 as running backs coach. He was promoted to assistant head coach in 2022.
Kiffin broke the news with this announced Wednesday morning on Twitter.
Thanks to @DerrickDNix for 16 great years. pic.twitter.com/VmpJcagu2V

He will replace Cadillac Williams, who left the Auburn staff earlier this month. Philip Montgomery was Auburn's offensive coordinator and play-caller in 2023.
Though Nix will hold the coordinator title, head coach Hugh Freeze will call plays for the Tigers this fall. Freeze called his own plays in previous head coaching stops at Arkansas State, Ole Miss (where he worked with Nix) and Liberty.
Auburn went 6-7 in Freeze's debut season, closing on a 3-game losing streak.
