When Baylor revealed it had new uniforms coming on Tuesday, my first reaction was to cringe.
The Art Briles years saw the Waco, Texas-based school try to become Oregon South, regularly ditching their green and gold for black or gray.
In 2019, Baylor unveiled a new uniform set that also drew comparisons to Oregon, but in a good way: the Bears would be back in their school colors.
The new kits, often but not always monochromatic, weren't the most exciting things in the world, and that was okay. At least Baylor looked like Baylor.
Thankfully, Baylor's new uniforms are new uniforms in the loosest sense of term. I'd say it's more an upgrade to their current uniform set, but you tell me.

Let's be honest: this is the same uniform with a tweak, stripes on the shoulders and the hips. But it's a good tweak! The original uniforms were a little bland, and the stripes add a welcomed but tasteful flare to what's already a thoroughly solid-if-unspectacular uniform.
In fact, I'd like to see a mockup of what a matching set of alternating stripes would look like on the helmet, particularly the white lid.
Sometimes, less is more. New can be fun for a moment, but continuity almost always wins in the long run.
And for those underwhelmed by the changes, don't worry -- Baylor teased a new, fourth uniform at the end of this video.

Let's all reserve judgment until we get a peek at the mystery look, but I'll tell you right now I wish they hadn't.
As always, stay tuned to The Scoop for the latest.
Update: Baylor has dropped its fourth uniform, and it's black/anthracite/predictable.
