Miami co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Charlie Strong is not expected to return, according to multiple reports this morning.
Gaby Urrutia of 247 was the first to share the news.
Strong becomes the fourth member of the Miami staff to move on from Mario Cristobal's initial staff in Coral Gables, joining Kevin Steele (DC), Josh Gattis (OC), and Frank Ponce (QBs).
Cristobal recently hired Lance Guidry as his new defensive coordinator, and this development clears the way for Guidry and Cristobal to bring some additional alignment on the defensive side of the ball.
Strong, who is 62 years old, has been at his last three stops just one season each since being let go as the head coach at USF. He spent one season working for Nick Saban at Alabama as a defensive analyst, one season with Urban Meyer in Jacksonville as assistant head coach / linebackers, and one season with the 'Canes as co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach.
