Michigan State beefs up support staff with former ACC staffer (pitt)

Mel Tucker continues to make the last few important hires to round out his support staff in East Lansing.

New assistant director of player personnel Sam Kukura is the latest addition, according to multiple reports,

Kukura spent the past two seasons as a recruiting analyst at Pitt.

Before joining Pat Narduzzi's support staff, he spent a spring as the tight ends coach at Slippery Rock (D-II - PA).

The former Kent State and John Carroll (D-III - OH) letterman previously worked in major college football at Akron, where he spent two seasons as an offensive graduate assistant before moving into a quality control assistant for special teams in 2019.

He finished his playing career as an All OAC selection at running back, where he helped John Carroll make a run to the D-III national semifinals and a 12-2 record.

The Spartans recently brought in former Virginia Tech director of player personnel Mark Diethorn as the team’s new director of player personnel, and they now have Kukura in place to work alongside him as they've reworked some of their off-field spots following the departure of Saeed Khalif, who served in a versatile GM / Executive Director of Player Personnel and Recruiting role for the program.
