Purdue allowed Ryan Walters to finish out the 2024 season before deciding that it was time for a change on December 1st. The Boilermakers finished the year on an 11-game losing streak to end his tenure leading the program 5-19.
Barry Odom, who immediately resurrected the UNLV program into Mountain West contenders in his two seasons at the helm, was chosen at the program's new head coach.
The hire marked back-to-back defensive head coaching hires for the Boilermakers, and marked the third head coaching opportunity for Odom, who went 25-25 in four seasons at Missouri before going 19-8 at UNLV. He brings an overall record of 44-33 to his new post in West Lafayette.
