After a bit of uncertainty following the exit of his father, record-setting former MTSU head coach Rick Stockstill from atop the Blue Raiders, Brent Stockstill initially landed on Lane Kiffin's star-studded Ole Miss Rebels staff.
Now, scarcely a month later, the younger Stockstill has landed another major opportunity, FootballScoop has learned.
Brent Stockstill is joining the Indianapolis Colts in an off-the-field, offensive assistant role, sources tell FootballScoop.
Stockstill joins the second-year staff of Indianapolis head coach Shane Steichen and offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter, who like Stockstill is a Tennessee native with deep ties to the Volunteer State.
In addition to exiting MTSU from his playing career as a passing record holder across multiple categories for the Blue Raiders, Stockstill also previously had coached with Kiffin at Florida Atlantic. He also logged a season on staff at South Florida.
The Colts, who finished 9-8 last season in Steichen's first year at the helm but were eliminated from AFC playoff contention when they lost their season finale at home to the Houston Texas, own two picks in the top-50 selections of this month's NFL Draft.
Their first-round pick is No. 15, and they have the 46th overall pick as well.
