Sources: Jeff Lebby, Mississippi State set to acquire major SEC assistant coach (Arkansas Razorbacks)

Jeff Lebby has made the crucial decision to retain a couple of key Mississippi State assistants, including former star wideout Chad Bumphis, and Lebby also has elected to move on from numerous former Bulldogs assistants.

Now, sources tell FootballScoop, Lebby has worked to execute a foundational move for the future of his Mississippi State program.

Cody Kennedy, a multi-time honoree as an Broyles Award candidate and former semifinalist for the award given annually to college football's best assistant coach, is set to move on from his spot on Sam Pittman's Arkansas Razorbacks staff to join Lebby's inaugural Bulldogs staff, numerous sources tell FootballScoop. He will coach State's offensive line.

It's viewed as an absolutely crucial addition for Lebby from a noted conference rival, per sources within the Southeastern Conference.

Kennedy, like his former boss in Pittman, has widely been heralded as one of the top up-and-coming offensive line coaches in all of college football.

Finished with three years tutoring the Hogs' offensive line, Kennedy also has experience coaching at the University of Georgia on Kirby Smart's staff as well as Tulane, West Alabama and West Georgia.

An Virginia native who grew up in North Alabama, Kennedy has additional coaching stints at both Southern Miss and UNC-Pembroke.

While Kennedy reflects an integral addition for Lebby's first staff, the first-time head coach also had elected to keep a couple of holdovers while he also largely has wiped clean the slate moving into 2024.
