Less than a week on the job at Alabama, Kalen DeBoer continues his Crimson Tide staff shake-up and overhaul.
After securing a commitment from David Ballou to remain as Alabama's director of strength performance for the football program, DeBoer is now set to add another FBS head strength coach to his staff; but this is where this one gets interesting.
Sources tell FootballScoop that Matt Shadeed, Kane Wommack's director of strength for the South Alabama football program, is making the move to Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Shadeed, who has very deep SEC roots, having logged previous stops at Ole Miss and LSU; additionally, Shadeed has worked at Southern Miss and Baylor all on the strength side of things, is slated to work more with the coaching staff and player development. Specifically, we are told Shadeed will not be a "strength coach" at Alabama.
Although his official title is to be determined, the position has been described to us as "working directly with Kane, with a focus on evaluating and developing players".
Sources told FootballScoop earlier this week that Ballou had elected to remain with Alabama; he has past history with both DeBoer and Wommack, after the trio all shared time at Indiana University.
