Sources tell FootballScoop Lane Kiffin’s first staff hire at Ole Miss will be Wilson Love, his strength coach at Florida Atlantic. Kiffin publicly credits Love with much of their success at FAU.

Love played at Alabama, and then immediately took a graduate assistant position on Nick Saban’s staff for the 2014 season. That season he worked with the defensive line.

Love moved to the strength staff for the 2015 season serving as an assistant to Scott Cochran for the 2015-16 seasons. Love caught the attention of Kiffin at practice while he went around without a helmet head-butting defensive lineman, who, of course, had their helmets on.

He then followed Lane to FAU in December of 2016 as his head strength coach.

We expect a number of hires for Kiffin’s staff to be made the next few days as he meets with Matt Luke’s staff and makes some local decisions. Sources tell FootballScoop Kiffin is expected to retain Derrick Nix and potentially others.

Our President since 2008, Scott oversees daily operations. An outstanding high school athlete (he wrote that), he chose to go pro in something other than playing football (i.e. he couldn't break a 5.0 40 yard dash). Prior to purchasing FootballScoop, Scott served as a vice president of The Shaw Group, a Fortune 500 company, for eight years.
