Sources: Miami (OH) set to hire high school coach from storied program
Sources tell FootballScoop that Chuck Martin is set to hire a coach from a successful high school program.
Ben Davis HS (IN) head coach Jason Simmons, who led the program to three regional titles, will be the team's new running backs coach, sources share.
Simmons went 31-28 in five seasons at Ben Davis, which was his third tenure with the program. He previously served as an assistant coach under Tom Allen and Mike Kirschner.
Ben Davis is a storied program that has won nine state titles, including their most recent one in 2017.
Simmons formally resigned from the head coaching position at the school earlier today, paving the way for his new job on Martin's staff which has undergone some changes the past few weeks.
A few days ago, we shared that with offensive coordinator Eric Koehler off to join the staff at Minnesota, tight ends coach Pat Welsh was being promoted to offensive coordinator, and Notre Dame analyst Gus Ragland was joining the staff as the new quarterbacks coach.
