Notre Dame has re-signed its apparel contract with Under Armour, sources confirmed to FootballScoop on Monday. The news was first reported by Ross Dellenger of Yahoo.
Under Armour offer was "worth millions more on average than offered by Nike, Adidas, and other suitors," sources tell FootballScoop. The cash-in-hand offer led Notre Dame officials to re-sign with UA. Notre Dame coaches are expected to have more direct influence on design elements, especially for uniforms, sources said.
The 10-year contract is expected to be worth more than $10 million per year in cash and gear, the richest of its kind in college athletics.
The Irish have been with Under Armour since 2014 after years with Adidas. The 10-year contract was set to expire after this coming season.
The extension comes as Under Armour has pulled back from 9-figure agreements with other schools. The Baltimore-based company paid a $67.5 million settlement to UCLA last summer after terminating a 15-year, $280 million contract in 2020. UA also terminated contracts with Boston College, Cal, Cincinnati, and Hawaii.
Earlier today, Notre Dame unveiled an all-green uniform set it will wear when Ohio State comes to South Bend on Sept. 23.
