Sources: Tom Herman, Florida Atlantic dismiss senior staff member along with coordinator (Ed Warinner)

Offensive line coach Ed Warinner will not return to Florida Atlantic's staff, sources told FootballScoop on Sunday. The move comes in conjunction with Tom Herman moving on from defensive coordinator Roc Bellantoni, which ESPN first reported Sunday morning.

Warinner was also FAU's assistant head coach and run game coordinator.

Warinner is an accomplished and tenured offensive line coach who at one time was regarded as among the very best position coaches in all of college football. Prior winners selected Warinner as the FootballScoop Offensive Line Coach of the Year in both 2012 and 2014, seasons that saw Ohio State go a combined 26-1 and win a national championship.

It was at Ohio State where Herman and Warinner crossed paths, serving as coordinator and co-coordinator for those Buckeye teams. Warinner then ascended to Ohio State's sole offensive coordinator when Herman took the Houston job following the 2014 national championship, but was replaced following the 2016 season. He then coached at Minnesota and Michigan before joining FAU's staff in 2021, and was retained by Herman upon taking the job ahead of the 2023 season.

Warinner also coached offensive lines at Army, Air Force, Kansas, Illinois, and Notre Dame.

Florida Atlantic is 2-7 overall and 0-5 in the American following a 49-14 loss to East Carolina on Thursday.
