After working on the staff of highly-regarded Willie Simmons at Florida A&M, Jelani Berassa is coming home -- well, to his college home.
Sources tell FootballScoop that Berassa is becoming the wide receivers coach at Youngstown State.
A former two-time team captain for the Penguins, Berassa is taking over the wideouts group after serving in a similar role as well as the passing game coordinator for Simmons at FAMU.
The Miami native first started in the coaching ranks at Delaware State, where he served as an offensive assistant following a standout-playing career at Youngstown State that saw Berassa set the storied program's single-game record for most receiving yards in a contest.
Berassa climbed the coaching ranks on the FAMU staff, first hired as the Rattlers' wideouts coach and later also earning the title of passing game coordinator.
He's the second offensive hire this week for Youngstown State, which also nabbed former Northwestern running back and Notre Dame analyst Jeremy Larkin to serve as the Penguins' running backs coach.
