This evening sources told FootballScoop App State target Dwayne Ledford has pulled out of the process and is expected to join Scott Satterfield's staff at Louisville.
With the news that Ledford is out of the process, FootballScoop is told the search now includes some new names. There are whispers in the profession that App State director of athletics Doug Gillen is now considering former East Carolina head coach Ruffin McNeill, Alabama co-OC Josh Gattis and a few others (potentially including Nate Woody).
McNeill, who currently serves as Lincoln Riley's associate head coach & interim defensive coordinator at Oklahoma, served as head coach at East Carolina from 2010-15. He served as App State's defensive coordinator from 1993-96. Gattis has been offered the offensive coordinator position at Maryland (per our sources) and could also be a candidate for Temple's head coaching position.
We had previously been told Gillin's goal was to have his next head coach selected by the end of this weekend; but with Ledford's decision it appears that timeline will be stretched a bit.
We will update as more becomes clear.
