UCLA reportedly hiring Ravens assistant as new defensive coordinator
UCLA is reportedly set to fill their defensive coordinator opening with an assistant from the Baltimore Ravens.
Matt Zenitz tweets that Chip Kelly is expected to hire Ravens safeties coach D’Anton Lynn as defensive coordinator.
The post will mark his first coaching experience in college football after stints on staffs with the Jets, Bills, Chargers, and Texans before taking on prominent secondary roles with the Texans (secondary coach) and then with the Ravens safeties.
Lynn spent the last two seasons on staff in Baltimore, and is a former Penn State defensive back.
He's also the son of former LA Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn.
At UCLA, he will replace Bill McGovern, who missed a five games at the end of the 2022 season due to health problems before retunring to coach in the Bruins bowl game.
Once official, the hire will fill the 43rd defensive coordinator opening in major college football this cycle.
