Former Northwestern State and Campbell defensive coordinator Weston Glaser has joined the Baylor staff as an analyst, sources told FootballScoop on Friday.
A Waco native, Glaser played quarterback at Sam Houston, then entered coaching at his alma mater in 2010. In three seasons on staff, Glaser helped the Willie Fritz-led Bearkats reach back-to-back FCS national title games, where they lost to the budding dynasty at North Dakota State each time.
Glaser worked with linebackers and defensive backs at UTEP from 2013-15 while also serving as an assistant pit crew coach for Jimmie Johnson's and Dale Earnhardt, Jr.'s NASCAR Sprint Cup teams in 2014-15.
He returned to coaching full-time at Texas A&M in 2016, and by 2018 was the defensive coordinator at Campbell. In four seasons as a Camel, Glaser helped the club produce back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since its 2008 re-launch, while twice leading the Big South in pass defense and producing the Big South defensive player of the year in D-lineman Brevin Allen.
Glaser joined Northwestern State's staff as defensive coordinator in 2022 and was appointed assistant head coach ahead of last season. The Demons placed three players on the All-Southland Team in Glaser's first season.
Glaser was not retained as part of the staff change from Brad Laird to Blaine McCorkle.
Dave Aranda has been hard at work this week bolstering his support staff with overqualified candidates. Former Houston special teams coordinator Mark Scott has come aboard as an analyst, and former TCU head coach Gary Patterson has joined as a senior consultant. Aranda also exchanged offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes for Jake Spavital, and is expected to call the defense himself while keeping coordinator Matt Powledge on staff. Baylor has gone 9-16 in two seasons after winning the Big 12 and the Sugar Bowl and finishing No. 5 in the AP poll in 2021.
As always, stay tuned to The Scoop for the latest.
