Sources: Troy adding Chris Boone to defensive staff (Chris Boone)

Gerad Parker is on the verge of wrapping his inaugural staff at Troy, and Parker's taken another step in essentially filling up all the defensive spots.

Sources tell FootballScoop that Parker is adding Chris Boone to coach Troy's linebackers.

At Samford the past two seasons, Boone has extensive FBS and FCS experience.

He and Parker first worked together some 15 years ago at UT-Martin under Jason Simpson.

Since then, Boone has logged an three-year stint at Southern Miss as a defensive assistant and he first worked at Samford as a special teams and defensive line coach.

Boone also had multiple seasons at FCS program Murray State, where he helped coordinate the Racers' defense and climbed to assistant head coach.

Parker, most recently at Notre Dame and with stints at Duke, Kentucky and Penn State among others, was hired last month as replacement for Jon Sumrall once Sumrall accepted the Tulane head coaching position.

Since then, Parker has nailed down his defensive coordinator hires, added a G.M., director of player personnel, new offensive line coach and now worked to finalize this hiring of Boone.
