Utah State releases statement on decision to move forward with termination of Blake Anderson's contract (Blake Anderson)

Sixteen days ago news began to circulate that Utah State was planning to part ways with Blake Anderson after placing the fourth-year Aggies head coach on an administrative leave.

Today, attorney Tom Mars formally shared that Utah State had terminated Anderson's contract, as had been widely expected.

Utah State has come out with a statement on their decision to move forward with he termination tonight, stating in part:

"This action is based on significant violations of his contractual obligations related to US's employee reporting requirements. These reporting requirements include a prohibition on employees outside the USU Office of Equity from investigating issues of sexual misconduct, including domestic violence. Additionally, Anderson failed to manage the team in a manner that reflect's USU's academic values.

"Consistent with Anderson's employment agreement, the university provided him written notice of its intent to terminate and 14 days to respond. To USU's disappointment, Anderson's response failed to acknowledge his responsibilities as a USU employee and as a head coach and instead sought to make excuses and unsuccessfully recast the clear language of USU's policies."

Anderson leaves with a 23-17 record with the Aggies, as he was coming off back-to-back 6-7 seasons after a breakout 11-3 initial campaign in Logan.

Stay tuned to The Scoop as we learn more, as a statement from Anderson is expected to come out in the coming days.
