We're back with our annual list tracking of all the head coaching changes across the NFL and college football.
The college carousel once again got off to a quick start, starting with two Big Ten programs in Northwestern (who made a change prior to start of the season) and Michigan State (who fired Mel Tucker early in the season).
The NFL made its first coaching change in the late night hours of Halloween, as Josh McDaniels was let go in his second season as the Las Vegas Raiders head coach.
A few small college programs also decided to make in-season changes and will have a head start on their search.
Consider this your one-stop shop for coaching changes at every level of football – NFL, NCAA and NAIA – throughout the fall and winter, so check back frequently. For your reference, here are the lists of changes for the 2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-2017, 2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20, 2020-21, 2021-22, and the 2022-23 seasons.

The Raiders parted ways with Josh McDaniels on Halloween, marking the first head coaching change of the cycle.
Last year, there were five NFL head coaching changes (Cardinals, Panthers, Broncos, Texans, Colts).

There have been 32 FBS head coaching changes, the latest being the early July change of Blake Anderson at Utah State.
The Big Ten kicked off the coaching carousel in college football with the dismissals of Pat Fitzgerald and Mel Tucker, respectively.
Through the midpoint of the season those were the only two head coaching changes. Last year the total number of head coaching changes was 24. Total number of changes over the past 11 seasons: 22 (2008), 23 (2009), 24 (2010), 28 (2011), 31 (2012), 20 (2013), 15 (2014), 29 (2015), 21 (2016), 21 (2017), 28 (2018), 24 (2019), 17 (2020), 29 (2021), and 24 (2022).

Stony Brook, Northwestern State (LA) and Southern (LA) kicked off the changes this year.
Last year, there were 27 FCS head coaching changes, and there were 21 FCS coaching changes the year prior. After the 2020 season, there were six head coaching changes, 16 changes following 2019, 25 in 2018, 24 in 2017, and 15 in 2016.

Saint Augustine (D-II - NC) was the first to make a controversial change at the Division II level, dismissing Howard Feggins.
Last year there were 25 head coaching changes at the Division II level.
There were a whopping 35 Division II head coaching changes in 2021, which followed the 2020 season where the Division II level didn't play a full season due to COVID. 31 jobs opened after the 2019 season, and 21 after the 2018 season.

Led by the retirement of longtime head coach Steve Johnson, Bethel was among the first to announce a change atop the program, along with Willamette who made an in-season change. Carthage (WI), and Ohio Northern both announced new directions for their program as the regular season concluded.
The past two seasons, there has been 25 seasons each, which followed a slow season of just five changes following the COVID-impacted 2020 season. In 2019, a total of 22 programs saw head coaching changes.

There have been eight NAIA head coaching changes to date.
