We're back with our annual list tracking of all the head coaching changes across the NFL and college football.
The NFL kicked things off with the dismissal of Robert Saleh in early October, and just a few weeks later ECU and Southern Miss were the first at the college level to make moves.
Consider this your one-stop shop for coaching changes at every level of football – NFL, NCAA and NAIA – throughout the fall and winter, so check back frequently. For your reference, here are the lists of changes for the 2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-2017, 2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20, 2020-21, 2021-22, 2022-23, and the 2023-24 seasons.
There has been seven NFL head coaching changes to date.
The Jets started the coaching carousel at the NFL level with the dismissal of Robert Saleh in early October.
Last year, there were seven NFL head coaching changes (Panthers, Chargers, Raiders, Patriots, Seahawks, Titans, and Commanders).
There have been 27 FBS head coaching changes so far, and all 27 jobs have been filled.
October moves from ECU, who moved on from Mike Houston, and Southern Miss parting ways with Will Hall began this cycle.
Last season, there were 32 total head coaching changes, which marked the highest turnover of any year to date. Total number of changes over the past 11 seasons: 22 (2008), 23 (2009), 24 (2010), 28 (2011), 31 (2012), 20 (2013), 15 (2014), 29 (2015), 21 (2016), 21 (2017), 28 (2018), 24 (2019), 17 (2020), 29 (2021), 24 (2022) and 32 (2023).

There have been 21 FCS head coaching changes to date.
Last cycle, there were 27 FCS head coaching changes.
There were also 27 changes the year prior to that, and 21 in after the 2021 season. After the 2020 season, there were six head coaching changes, 16 changes following 2019, 25 in 2018, 24 in 2017, and 15 in 2016.
There were no in-season changes at the Division II level this fall, though Truman State had an interim head coach in Kellen Nesbitt for the 2024 season.
There were 24 head coaching changes last season, and 25 the year before.
After the 2021 season, there were a whopping 32 Division II head coaching changes, and COVID had a direct impact on the 2020 season and coaching change cycle while 31 changes took place after 2019.

Division III had their first head coaching change with Millikin in the final days of October.
There were 24 head coaching changes after last fall, and there were 25 changes each of the two seasons before that.

In early October, Kansas Wesleyan kicked things off when they decided to make a change.
Last fall, there were a total of eight NAIA head coaching changes.
