Thaddeus Stevens (JC - NY): Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology is currently seeking an Assistant Football Coach. The position is part-time with other possible employment opportunities. Coaching responsibilities to include but not limited to coaching the offensive skilled positions. Experience playing and coaching is preferred. Responsibilities include all aspects of the football program, including practice organization, academic support and recruiting. Davenport (D-II - MI): Davenport University is looking for an opponent week #3 September 16, 2023. Would prefer a D-II opponent, but will play a FCS,NAIA or D-III opponent. Interested programs can contact smcewen@davenport.edu.
Campbell (FCS - NC): The program has found their new linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator.
Chattanooga (FCS): The Mocs are adding an offensive assistant with strong Power 5 experience.
Southern Oregon (NAIA): Southern Oregon University is accepting applications for their vacant Defensive Coordinator Position. The purpose of the position of Defensive Coordinator is to work under the direction of the Head Football Coach to maintain and enhance the program’s success as a regional and National contender and carry that success into the classroom and beyond. This position will organize and facilitate all aspects of the defensive unit and assist in the overall football program, which includes recruitment of qualified student athletes and assisting with fundraising, and retention. Minimum qualifications: 3 years of collegiate coaching experience in the defensive backfield or linebacker position and a Bachelor's degree. Preferred qualifications: 3 years of collegiate defensive coordinator experience and a Master's Degree. Taylor (NAIA - IN): Taylor University has an opening for a restricted earnings position coaching either the DL or LBs. This is a non-benefitted position that pays 16k/year. Eastern Illinois (FCS): Eastern Illinois has a Defensive Quality Control opening. This is a VOLUNTEER position (potential to earn some money through camps). SEC: The league has announced $721.8 million in revenue for the fiscal year ending in August of 2022, meaning each of the 14 members were awarded an average of $49.9 million (not including bowl revenue).
Stephen F Austin (FCS - TX): Brett Watson is joining the staff and will work with the defensive ends, per source. Watson comes to SFA after spending last season working as a defensive quality control coach at North Dakota State working with the Bison defensive line. Prior to that, he was the defensive line coach at Incarnate Word (FCS - TX) from 2018-21.
Gardner-Webb (FCS - NC): Tulsa offensive quality control coach Nick Franey has been hired as the new offensive line coach / run game coordinator at Gardner Webb. Franey worked with the offensive line at Tulsa.
Louisiana Christian (NAIA): Louisiana Christian University is seeking a full-time linebacker coach with a possible DC tag included. Job Responsibilities include running a position room, recruiting an area, film breakdown, all practice setup, and breakdown, overseeing academics of position group, and all other responsibilities assigned by the Head Football Coach or Athletic Director. Starting date would be as soon as possible. Candidate must adhere to the Louisiana Christian personal conduct policy. A Bachelor’s degree and successful completion of a background check are required. Miami: Co-defensive coordinator / linebackers coach Charlie Strong will not return, according to multiple reports.
LA Rams: Bills assistant offensive line coach Ryan Wendell is expected to join the staff as the new offensive line coach, Dan Graziano shares. He replaces Kevin Carberry who was let go at the end of the season.
Western Kentucky: Tyson Helton is reportedly adding a highly regarded coordinator to the defensive side of the ball.
Shepherd (D-II - PA): One of the top offenses in the country has hired a former FCS Coordinator of the Year from the defensive side as their play caller.
Howard (FCS): Per source, receivers coach Lindsey Lamar is being promoted to offensive coordinator. Lamar has been a part of the staff since 2020. He played his college ball at USF before joining the staff as a graduate assistant, then moved to special assistant to head coach Charlie Strong before being elevated to a quality control role in early 2019.
New England (D-III - ME): UNE invites applicants for a restricted earnings Offensive assistant football coach. Preferred candidates will have prior experience playing or coaching. Candidates will be responsible for coaching their own position group, recruiting in a specific area, film editing/breakdown (HUDL), some social media/graphics and all other duties assigned by the head football coach. A Bachelor’s degree and valid driver’s license is required. Salary will depend on experience and includes some meals. Interested candidates should e-mail resume and references to football@une.edu. Miami (OH): Sources tell FootballScoop that Chuck Martin is set to add a coach from a storied high school program.
Fitchburg State (D-III – MA): Fitchburg State University is seeking an offensive assistant football coach. Preferred candidates will have prior experience playing and/or coaching. Candidates will be responsible for coaching their own position group (offensive skill), some recruiting responsibilities, film editing/breakdown (HUDL), weekly scout and gameplan reports, and all other duties assigned by the head football coach. This is a part-time, stipend position. No housing or meals are provided. Local candidates are encouraged to apply. Sacramento State (FCS - CA): According to sources, Western Oregon (D-II) defensive coordinator Jason Slowey is set to join the Sac State staff as edge coach. Slowey has been on staff at WOU the past eight seasons coaching the linebackers.
Buffalo Bills: Mike Garafolo tweets that Al Holcomb, who stepped in as interim defensive coordinator for the Panthers when Steve Wilks was elevated to interim head coach, is joining the staff as a senior defensive assistant.
Johns Hopkins (D-III - MD): TJ Weyl is joining the staff as offensive line coach. Weyl most recently worked with quarterbacks and tight ends at Rutgers and previously served as a defensive graduate assistant at Vanderbilt.
Arizona Cardinals: The team does not plan to hire a head coach until after Super Bowl LVII next week, Adam Schefter tweets.
Virginia-Lynchburg (NCCAA): Virginia University of Lynchburg is currently seeking an Assistant Football Coach for Cornerbacks. Two-plus years of collegiate coaching experience required. This position includes a stipend and housing is provided. Responsibilities include all aspects of the football program, including practice organization, academic support and recruiting.
